Description
Norman Daly (1911-2008) is a Pennsylvania born American artist. He was trained in fine arts at Carnegie Tech, the University of Colorado, the University of Paris, and Ohio State. Daly did graduate work at the Institute of Fine Arts of New York University. He briefly taught at Oberlin and Rutgers before joining Cornell University in the Department of Art from 1942-1999. He painted primarily in the 40s and 50s before turning to sculpture in the 60s. He concentrated on his conception of an “imaginary” civilization, the Civilization of Llhuros, which was the first and still pre-eminent presentation of archaeological art. This was exhibited widely in the US and Germany in 1972-1975.
