Kenneth Evett (1913-2005) was an American artist born in Colorado. He studied at Colorado College where he eventually got his MFA, studying under George Biddle and Henry Varnum Poor, both muralists. Evett was an easel painter for the Works Progress Administration during the great depression. During this time, Evett also took commissions from the Treasury Department to create murals in post offices in Colorado, Nebraska, and Kansas. He took a position at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, from 1948-1980. In 1994, he was elected into the National Academy of Design, an honorary association of American artists. He stayed in Ithaca until he died in 2005, at the age of 91.
